Sunday morning worship is at 10:25 am. Sunday school classes for all ages are also held each week at 9:30 am, with coffee and fellowship starting at 9:00 am.
There are several parking areas around the campus. There are several Visitor’s and Handicap parking spaces close to the front entrance. However, most people utilize the parking lots across the street, behind the church adjacent to PNC bank, or on 8th Street beside the church.
While all children are welcome in our worship service, a nursery is provided for infants through kindergarten, should you choose.
Chestnut Street is a “Safe Sanctuary” for children. Meaning we have two non-related capable and compassionate adults with our children, secure entrance from outside, clean environment and sign in so parents may feel at ease when worshiping with us.
We want everyone to be able to worship as they feel comfortable and do not judge people by the way they dress. Some men wear suits, others khakis with button down or polo shirt, some wear jeans and a t-shirt, others wear business casual; ladies wear dresses/skirts, slacks/khakis or jeans. We just ask that whatever you wear, please remember to be respectful and modest.
We would be delighted for you to join us. The first step in the process is to have a conversation with the Pastor. The Pastor is tasked with the responsibility of determining membership readiness. We ask that before you commit to become a member of Chestnut Street you visit and participate in Church related ministries other than Worship. If you are willing to become a disciple of Jesus Christ then you may join by Profession of Faith (those who are not a part of another congregation and who are joining a congregation for the first time) or by a Letter of Transfer (for those who are a member of another congregation).
Baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace and is open to all ages. Many parents have their children baptized as infants. However, adults who have never been baptized will receive baptism prior to joining the Church. While many congregations only recognize one mode of baptism, immersion, we recognize three. However, it is our common practice to baptize by sprinkling. This involves the Pastor dipping his/her hand into a basin of water and sprinkling on the head of the individual.
There are 5 adult classes to choose from, each with their own personality and style. Visit each class as often as you’d like to find the one best suited to meet your spiritual needs.
We have signage as well as members who will welcome you and make sure you can get to your desired destination.
Small groups, such as Bible Study, are held throughout the year on different days and times. Our present schedule is Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm, via our Facebook Group Page. There is a devotional study on Wednesday evening at 6:oo pm. following our Fellowship meal (Wednesday Night Live) which occurs at 5:15 pm.
Chestnut Street offers many ministry opportunities for you to use and perfect your gifts and graces so that you may become a Disciple of Jesus Christ. Contact the church office to sign up for our monthly newsletter, The Nutshell, where activities are highlighted.
The church office is open Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Our office volunteers are glad to answer questions or direct you to the proper place. The Pastor may be reached at 910-729-2794.
